Good Food On the Go

We make some of our worst food choices when we’re in a hurry.

When we’re too tired to cook or too hungry to prepare a good meal, we reach for what’s fast, frozen or flavorless.

There is a better way.

With a little planning and a little bit of thinking ahead, you can have fresh seafood pre-packaged and ready to go.

Prepared food doesn’t have to be expensive or only for special occasions. It can be the kind of easy staple you can rely on when life gets hectic.

You can pick up, say, a single serving of fish or a meal for one and throw it in the refrigerator. Suddenly lunch at your desk just got a whole lot better.

If you had to work late, you can come home to crab cakes or ravioli. You can enjoy some warm clam chowder without getting a single pot dirty.

If you’re not great at cooking a particular type of fish, don’t cook it! Buy it prepared and make everything else. It will take the pressure off and allow you to focus on the other dishes in your meal.

Prepared food can also make leftovers more exciting. A microwaved hodgepodge can come together as a full meal when paired with an appetizer or soup and some fresh bread.

Don’t assume that you can’t eat well if you don’t have time or if you’re short on cash. There are plenty of affordable meals available that are filled with great flavor and necessary nutrients.

Don’t give up on meals without a fight. You’re putting this food into your body. You’re taking in nourishment from it. Mealtime is a time for restoration and enjoyment.

Other things in your life may encroach on those minutes, but you decide what you eat. Choose wisely.
