Zagat Review

Zagat Review of Connecticut Seafood Store Atlantic Seafood

Incredibly wonderful seafood. Order all your fresh and frozen fish from them. Known for their cocktail shrimp. It does not get better than this. This is definitely the place to go when you are entertaining and want the very best.” -Susan Monday, Zagat

Travel Guide Review

If you are looking for some fresh seafood in the Shoreline area, Atlantic Seafood has some of the freshest catches around. You can pick up seafood caught in Long Island Sound and other regional fish and crustaceans from around the country as well as ready-made refrigerated items like bisque, chowder and lobster rolls.”

Yelp Reviews

By Annie W. from Groton, CT:

this is a little hole-in-the-wall on route one, across the street from action sports, with a little sign in front advertising ‘self-serve soup!’ what they don’t say is that their soup is amazing. while rummaging through the store earlier today, one of the storekeepers generally offered a cup of delicious gumbo on the house, hearty, with a hint of spiciness, and lots of little shrimps. albeit little, the place is armed with refrigerators/freezers with frozen homemade seafood items (a la pasta vita, but not pasta), and desserts, and fresh-baked bread — challah, too! as well as custom grain mixes, spice rubs/mixes, a good supply of great looking wood planks on which to grill — for great prices — and little gourmet seasonings and marinades, etc to accompany everything. i got their prince edward island mussels and their organic norwegian (never-frozen) salmon, and immediately went home to test ’em out. let’s say that the mussels were ‘restaurant-quality!’ in the words of a roommate, fresh, and hardly any grit — even when i forgot to rinse them. the salmon was melt-in-your mouth heaven, and one of my cats, the true salmon connoisseur, had her paws on my knee until i fed her some as well. also noted was the lack of fishy smell that you’d get with a lower-quality seafood. my place didn’t smell like salmon afterwards!

i’ll surely be back to check out more of their seafood selection soon!”

By z p. from Old Lyme, CT:

This is our ‘go to’ seafood market. Lisa, the owner, is very helpful with great preparation suggestions and always willing to suggest something new and delicious.

“The oysters here are great and they usually have at least 3 options to choose from. Or if you are like us, you don’t choose, but rather get some of each.

“Bomster scallops… the best you can get in our opinion. They are flash frozen right on the boat to ensure freshness, trust me, this is the way to go. We typically buy them in the 5# blocks that Atlantic receives them in from the fisherman. We then take them home and break off 1 to 1.5# meal-sized portions, only defrosting them as we need them. Tender, succulent, and soooo delicious simply seared with salt & pepper in unsalted butter.

“Hands down, we we love this place and rarely buy seafood from anywhere else. We drive by no less than 4 other seafood sellers to get here, and the extra trip is well worth it.”

Best of its kind along the CT shoreline. Owner, Lisa, is great and knows her stuff. Jerry, the chef, doesn’t show his face much, but he does a great job with all the fresh & frozen take-outs. Swordfish meatballs are a must-try … if you can get Jerry to make them.”

Drive to Atlantic Seafood. Pick up your Lobster Bake In A Can. Add 3 cups of water. Heat on the stove or grill for 25 minutes. Feast on two beautiful, hard-shelled lobster, a bag of steamers (or mussels, if you prefer), corn on the cob and fingerling potatoes. Return can. Brilliant! Give Atlantic a day’s notice (or more if you’re feeding a crowd).
